It is about that time in the week where you need to lock in who is going to be in your fantasy football lineups going into this weekend’s slate of games in the NFL. Whether you are trying to end a losing skid or making a push for a playoff spot, it is important to put in the players that will get you the maximum number of points. Here are the players you should start heading into week ten:
Quarterback Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Justin Fields has been on a fantasy tear in the last few weeks as he is starting to turn the corner for this Bears offense. Even in the 35-32 loss to the Dolphins last week, Fields was able to have a record day on the ground.
The second-year quarterback was able to rush for 178 yards on 15 carries and had a touchdown. He added on through the air with 123 passing yards and three touchdowns. Fields’ monster day against the Dolphins defense carried him to a 42.7 fantasy point outing in week nine.
Fields has quickly become a reliable option in fantasy and the matchup this week makes him a must-start option. The former Ohio State product is going up against the Detroit Lions defense that has allowed the third-most fantasy points per game to QB’s (20.95). Against the Lions lackluster defense, Fields could be in for another breakout performance in back-to-back weeks.
Running Back Josh Jacobs, Las Vegas Raiders
Josh Jacobs started out of the gates on fire this season before putting up two inconsistent weeks in the last two weeks of the season. Jacobs in that span hasn’t been able to find the endzone. The veteran running back had a stretch of rushing for over 140 yards, but that was snapped in week eight against the Saints.
In the 27-20 loss to the Jaguars in week nine, Jacobs accounted for 17 carries for 67 yards. He would add three receptions for 20 yards on the day as well. Those who own Jacobs shouldn’t hit the panic button as he faces a favorable matchup heading into week ten.
The Raiders face off against the Colts this weekend as the Colts defense has allowed at least 16.8 fantasy points to the opposing running back. Jacobs will be able to get back on track against an Indianapolis defense that has struggled to defend the run.
Wide Receiver Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints
Chris Olave is slowly turning into the go-to target for this Saints offense with the absence of key injuries in the wide receiver room. Olave currently is the top rookie wide receiver in statistics this season and he was able to lead the Saints in receiving in the 27-13 loss on Monday night against the Ravens.
The rookie wide receiver hauled in six receptions for 71 yards against a talented Ravens secondary. Olave has been very consistent in fantasy this year as provides fantasy managers a safe floor, but the upside is there for Olave this week.
Olave will be treated in week ten with a favorable matchup as he will face a Steelers defense that have allowed the most fantasy points per game to receivers this season (45.8). The rookie wide receiver will be in store for a big day against the Steelers secondary.
Tight End Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cade Otton has been able to build his trust with Tom Brady as he has taken over TE1 duties for this Tampa Bay offense. Otton was able to haul in the game-winning touchdown with nine seconds left in week nine as the Buccaneers went on to beat the Rams, 16-13.
Not only did he catch the game-winning touchdown, but he was also the Buccaneers leading reciever on the day. Otton hauled in five catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. He was able to finish the game with 17.8 fantasy points in week nine.
The Buccaneers will now turn their attention to the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks defense has made the cut here at the tight end spot as we continue to fade Seattle’s defense that have given up the second-most fantasy points per game to tight ends (20.2). If you have a tight end that is on the bye week, Otton would be a top streaming option that you can plug into your lineup this week.
